In our work and conversations as Blakemore UMC Leadership Board, we want to reflect Christ’s love and grace. We realize that conflict, misunderstandings, and disagreements may prevent us from doing the work God has called us to complete. Therefore, we covenant together in these guidelines for loving relationships and values to guide our ministry.

  1. We promise to put Christ at the center of our work. Proverbs 3:5-6
  2. We promise to value each other as gifts from God and will work to live and work in respectful relationship. John 13:34
  3. We promise to maintain relationships of confidentiality when necessary, especially in matters of personal growth. Proverbs 25:9
  4. We promise to maintain and seek clear, complete, direct, and transparent communication with church membership in regards to Leadership Board decisions and discussions whenever possible. Ephesians 4:25
  5. We promise to be good stewards of our time together for the benefit of one another and the congregation we serve. 1 Corinthians 4:1
  6. We commit to being positive and solution minded, keeping in mind the grace afforded to us by Christ. Philippians 4:8-9
  7. We commit to process major strategies and decisions as a team, allowing for emergency situations to be addressed by e-mail or phone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
  8. We accept disagreement, conflict, and evaluation as normal and natural. In this regard, we will seek to deal constructively with disagreements or conflicts by practicing appreciative inquiry. 1 Corinthians 1:10
  9. We, as those forgiven by God, seek also to be a forgiving team, offering God’s forgiveness to one another and others with whom we have opportunity to share the forgiving nature of Christ. Colossians 3:13
  10. We promise to support one another and the work of the Leadership Board through prayer; to walk hand-in-hand though we may not see eye-to-eye. Ephesians 4:31-5:2
